Machine guarding has been on OSHA's list of top cited regulations and has been since the inception of OSHA. There are four basic approaches to machine guarding they are barrier guards, guarding devices, guarding by location and warnings. The barrier guard is a physical guard between the hazard and anyone by it. These are not always used because they slow down production. Guarding devices are light screens, two palm antilock push buttons, interlocks and pullbacks.
