Another important swimming safety tip parents should know is to check if the pool is equipped with proper safety equipment. Parents should see if the pool has an emergency phone to be able to call 911. Other essential equipment should include a Sheppard's hook or reaching pole that can be used to extend out to a troubled swimmer. Also check and see if there is a throw rope with a ring buoy.
There should be a visible line or float rope in the pool that separates the shallow from the deep part of the pool. This line or float rope can act as an added safety feature for weaker swimmers who get into deeper parts of the pool by accident.
