Child recovers after leg mangled by lawn mower | Toledo Ohio child accident lawyer

A tragic home accident happened on Monday night when a riding lawn mower mangled a 6-year-old's legs. Not much information has been released on the details of the accident. Cape Coral Police say that the child is listed in fair condition right now.

According to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, almost 17,000 children children were the victims of lawn mower accidents in 2010.

Here are some tips regarding mower safety:

*  Never allow a child to operate a power mower, even supervised, or ride "double" on a mower.

*  Children should never play in areas where mowers are being used.  Keep children, especially children ages 4 and under, supervised indoors whenever any outdoor power equipment is being used.

*  Be alert for children when operating a power mower, especially when backing up or approaching trees and shrubs.

*  Clear the mowing area from rocks, twigs, toys, wires, etc. which could be picked up and thrown by the blade.

*  Children must be at least 14 years old with operational training and safety education before being allowed to operate a power mower or power equipment, and must be supervised by an adult.

*  Keep children away from all power equipment. Never let children operate any power equipment.
