The first day of the new year turned into a tragic day for the family of a 10-year-old girl.
Laura Carson was at a relative's house driving a go-kart whne she lost control of it and rear-ended a parked car. The kart did not have a roll cage and she was not wearing a helmet.
Firefighters responded to the scene first and she was taken to a local hospital by ambulance. She was pronounced dead by the emergency room doctors.
State troopers are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash.
