37-year-old Stacie Carroll is facing charges of OVI, failure to control and child endangerment, after she crashed her car into a utility pole with her 8-year-old daughter in the car.
Reports say she was under the influence of prescription drugs when the crash occurred.
Carroll’s daughter was taken to an area hospital with minor injuries and was to be released into her father’s custody. Carroll was not seriously injured.
The law says, “Any type of drug abuse — whether it’s prescribed medication or not — taken outside of its quantity in the state of Ohio is still considered ‘operating a vehicle under the influence. A lot of individuals think they get an OVI charge just because they’re operating under the influence of alcohol, but prescription medications that you can get over the counter ... or nonprescription drugs such as marijuana ... still count.”
